"A Jensen is built for people who love driving and who are proud of their car. And they are also made by people who are more than happy to create a car with a personality”. This was what was written in the sales brochures, but considering bare facts alone, the Jensen was also an extraordinary vehicle for its time. A body constructed from the innovative material GRP, disc brakes all around, with the 541 R reaching a top speed of over 200 kph, and all with a new price higher than that for a Mercedes 300 SL! The 541 was built from 1954 to 1963 in a production run of 546 units, while the 541 R was produced only 193 times with only 43 copies featuring the more powerful DS7 engine.

The registrar of the Jensen Owners Club confirmed the delivery of this Jensen on 18 August 1959 as the 51st car of the 541 R production run. It was green on the inside and outside, while the roof was grey. The later history can then be traced back to the beginning of the 80s. Letters from this period document the lively conversation between the then owner in South Africa with the Jensen Owners Club regarding restoration issues. The scope of the restoration that followed was all-encompassing and the work carried out can still be considered as convincing today. Once this super strong machine is brought to life simply with the push of a button, any doubts about its performance characteristics suddenly evaporate. The 4-litre engine in conjunction with its overdrive transmission allows fast travel at relaxed, low rpms. In 2013, the current owner brought the Jensen from South Africa to Germany. His upcoming downsizing of his collection now demanded that he sell his Jensen, which is ready to drive right now thanks to a recently conducted vehicle inspection!
