...just as all my actions therefore consistently strove to realise the theatre of mysterious orgies, the consequence of his actions in preaching sexual freedom was the friedrichshof commune. he constructed a unique psychological social experiment, allowing art to flow into real life. how far one could follow him in this respect, was another thing, but the commune was amazingly well organised, corresponding to the composition of a work of art, or the vision of social sculpture not unlike that of von Beuys. in spite of the dogmatic demands that art be overcome, Mühl constantly painted during his time in the commune. many outstanding achievements originated from this period, particularly in terms of abstract expressionist painting. all in all, we cannot contemplate the recent history of art without considering Mühl’s venture. dear Otto, I congratulate you on your life’s work.
