Hermann Brücke was the son and pupil of Johann Gottfried Brücke. He took part in the drawing class at the Berlin Academy from 1847 to 1849 and from 1856 to 1861 in Rome where he was also a member of the German society of artists. Likewise, he was also a member of the society of artists in Berlin and exhibited portraits, still lifes and historical paintings at exhibitions of the Berlin Academy from 1848 to 1868.
