1930 DeSoto K-Six

1930 DeSoto K-Six - Classic Cars

Touring car with unusually meticulous restoration

Walter Chrysler founded the DeSoto make (not to be confused with the de Soto brand, which existed from 1914 to 1918) in 1928, which he named after the Spanish travelling salesman Hernando de Soto. The company sold a sensational 81,065 automobiles in the first year of its existence. The 1930 model was launched as an advanced version of its predecessor in 1929. Now called the K-Six, the car had an advanced design, was series-fitted with hydraulic brakes, a rubber-dampened engine and Lovejoy shock absorbers.

The DeSoto was exported to Italy back in 1990, where it was thoroughly overhauled in the early 2000s. Since then, the open-top touring car has caught the eye with its fantastic coat of paint. The roof was refurbished to create a precise fit, with added all-weather protection on the sides. The exquisite leather upholstery on the seats and panelling is the most striking feature of the spacious interior. The mechanics have been noticeably restored, and the wheels with their wooden spokes replaced. The engine was painstakingly overhauled in 2017, as evidenced by the powerful kick. Vehicles of this age and class that have been so elaborately restored are rare finds indeed, which makes this lovingly refurbished vehicle stand out from so many of its peers!

VIN: T-2851-K, mileage: 97,361 mls (read), displacement: 2,866 cc/R6, power: 55 hp, colour: light brown & black/brown (leather), gearbox: 3-speed, papers: Italian vehicle papers
