1974 Triumph TR 6 P.I.

1974 Triumph TR 6 P.I. - Classic Cars

Austrian delivery!

With the last owner since 1978!

Triumph commissioned Karmann to revise the slightly aged TR 5 at the end of the 1960s. The Germans adapted the original Michelotti design to reflect more contemporary trends, but left the engineering largely untouched. In 1969, Triumph presented its new TR 6 in a bespoke German fitting, installed on top of the familiarly robust mechanics. And the company didn’t have to wait long for success!

This Triumph TR 6 was registered to the importer Erwin Janko as a showroom car in July 1974. Our consignor purchased the vehicle back in December 1978 and had the originally yellow roadster completely repainted in grey metallic, a colour that suits it delightfully! He looked after the roadster lovingly, but the hours they spend together grew increasingly infrequent as he grew older. Nevertheless, he added a rare, original Sebring exhaust system in-between times and sent the car for extensive servicing just recently, eliminating quite a few tell-tale traces of age. But the Triumph is not ashamed of its vintage, and even the coat of paint carries the signs of its 30 years. Nevertheless, the car seems as fresh as dew when you turn the ignition key. The injection works, and the sound gives you goose bumps as the wind tussles your hair. This TR6 is a true historical rarity and an endless source of pleasure!

VIN: CR1113L0, mileage: 10.567 km (read), displacement: 2.498 cc/R6, power: 143 hp, colour: grey metallic/black (synthetic leather), gearbox: 4-speed, papers: Austrian individual approval
