Lot No. 530 V

1980 Reliant Robin

1980 Reliant Robin - Classic Cars

Three-wheeled car with left-hand drive!

The Reliant Motor Company in Tamworth exploited an anomaly of British tax laws, whereby three-wheeled vehicles with an unladen weight of less than 450 kilograms were taxed at the considerably more favourable rate applied to motorcycles. The Robin had a front-mounted 850 cc, four-cylinder engine driving the rear wheels. The firm Ogle was responsible for its design. These cars were mainly sold in Great Britain, and Robins were exported to just a few other countries, making left-hand drive versions extremely rare.

This Robin has always been Austrian, and is versatile enough to accommodate many different areas of use, specifically when prestige is a less significant concern. It only has four seats, although the back seats can be folded down to handle all kinds of unusual consignments. You could also rebuild it is a racing car! Note: there are automobile races exclusively for Reliant three-wheelers in a kingdom on an island between the North Sea and the Atlantic. Naturally, you can also use the three-wheeler for mundane activities in everyday life, enjoying its frugality and modest maintenance requirements. Altogether it is a worthwhile investment for which there will be all kinds of uses later on.

VIN: SCD132355AF033326 mileage: 91,147 km (read), displacement: 850 cc/R4, power: 40 hp, colour: red/black (fabric), gearbox: 4-speed, papers: Austrian individual approval
