Tabriz,
Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 340 x 246 cm, about 1940, this medallion carpet with spiral tendrils on silk warp and beige ground is extremely finely knotted with c. 1. mill. kts/sqm; although both its low shear with cork wool and its pattern are reminiscent of Isfahan-like specimens, the present piece can be attributed to Tabriz on the basis of its symmetrical knot; on both sides woven finishes in highly complicated execution, good condition, a very rare collector’s piece.
