Baluch,
Northeast Persia (Iran), c. 160 x 79 cm, late 19th century, oblong prayer rug with tree of life motif and “barga tak” leaves, especially striking are the “pandsheh” motifs in the hand position representing the Hand of Fatima, the favourite daughter of the Prophet Muhammed, the facing side features a cartouche for the prayer stone surmounting naive four-legged figures; heavily worn with consistently low pile, both ends slightly reduced, edge damage, none the less a very attractive collector’s carpet.
