Abdal Chuval, - Carpets

West Turkestan, c. 75 x 115 cm, beginning of the 19th century, in symmetrical unlayered knots, on the grounds of its massive chuval guls, rich colour palette and extraordinary elem design, the present chuval can be attributed to the rare group of the Abdal tribes, a chuval with very similar elem has been published by Sienknecht, especially remarkable are also its neatly designed, light-coloured syrga border and the accompanying, extremely rare “Sary Itchyan” border; kilim at the lower end no longer preserved, newly overcast side edges, low pile.
