“alles was ist, das sein, ist bewegung und verwandlung.”
Hermann Nitsch

In 1963 I was still of the opinion that my painting had fully developed and had been dissolved into the O. M. Theatre (Orgies-Mysteries Theatre). I no longer wanted to paint and thought that the theatrical ‘action’ would inevitably surpass all painting. Today I know that painting actions and O.M. Theatre actions need each other. I must continually refer back to the “well-tempered clavier” of painting in order to be able to realise my theatre even better and more intensively.
Further large painting actions followed in 1984 and 1986 in Turin, Naples and Prinzendorf. Did they differ fundamentally from the painting renaissance of 1983?
I hope that it will be possible to take up the problem of painting again and again in periodic recurrence. This painting is supposed to directly seismograph the entire psychophysical mood of the person painting. So the results are inevitably always different. In 1983, it was the spaciousness and monumentality of the pouring that interested me. This summer I was more influenced by the sensitive perception and the detailed handling of the large surface. The basic situation is always different and there are always new problems. I hope to constantly improve and expand and I want to learn from nature inside and around me all the time.
