In the 1860s, Nathaniel Meyer Freiherr von Rothschild acquired properties at Hohe Warte, covering an area of around 81,600 square metres.
The northern part of the Rothschild Gardens became a park, the southern part a plant nursery.
Dr. Alphons Freiherr von Rothschild inherited the property, but was expropriated in 1938.
The Rothschild Gardens were partially des-troyed during World War II.
The gatehouse has been preserved.
