Lot No. 37

Shirvan, East Caucasus, c. 157 x 89 cm,

East Caucasus, c. 157 x 89 cm, 19th century. The striped design, which is rather unusual for a Shirvan, is especially accomplished in this piece. The carpet, which has an almost contemporary look, captivates its viewers through its early colour palette and fine knotting. A few small darned areas and old repairs. Original white cotton edges. Thin in places. (VP)
