Iran, c. 190 x 120 cm, 19th century. A rare, early and fine pure silk carpet from southeastern Persia, probably commissioned by a local dignitary. The central medallion stands out to great effect on the ivory ground. C. 800.000 knots m/2. Evenly thin, with numerous traces of usage. Damaged edges and ends. (VP)
