1980 Chevrolet Corvette

1980 Chevrolet Corvette - Classic Cars

Chevrolet launched the third-generation Corvette in 1967, keeping the car in its programme for 15 years. GM designer David Holls created an extremely striking body with curvaceous and very tapered lines – giving the C3 its nickname “Coke Bottle Shape” Corvette. But the coupé is quite delicate by US standards, despite its powerful look. The two removable roof sections also enable a fresh air driving experience. A fastback rear section with glass dome behind the B pillar was fitted to the C3 as part of a model evolution in 1978.

The C3 was imported from the United States in 2011 and given extensive refurbishment shortly afterwards. The bodywork was painted in ‘Hello Yellow’, and the interior fitted with vinyl/leather ‘Red Leather 722’. The car was also upgraded by replacing some of the seats, mats and seals. The suspension and the exhaust system were not forgotten, either. This very late C3 evolution already comes with the last and extremely imposing nose shape and a modernised tail with integrated spoiler. The polished aluminium rims with the opulent 235 strips were popular items on the list of optional features. Taken together, these factors made and continue to make the Corvette a powerful companion, a fireball that it certain to attract admiring glances wherever it goes. But the owner should be a little extroverted – even if it’s just to escape from humdrum routines in a silver/grey car and to take a ‘drive on the wild side’. Piloting a Corvette C3 is a statement, a profession of independence without a care for what neighbours may be thinking!
