An Important Empire Salon Cabinet, - Works of Art

Vienna, c. 1805/10, softwood frame in upright rectangular design with a moulded wreath surmounted by a domed finial, on stylised lion paws with gold staffage; with ebonised pear wood and ash, veneered, 2 doors with fine Indian ink painting in the form of a gallant couple dancing, below them depicting musical instruments as an allegory of music, bandings with carved and gold painted wood applications in the form of a Rod of Asclepius and leafy tendrils, sides in the lower part of the corpus with Indian ink paintings in the form of female figures with putto, upper domed finial with Indian ink painting decor in the form of leaves, above it a half-arched segmented "roof" with a vase bowl in verde antico decoration with antique sphinxes, inside a medallion in longitudinal format with Indian ink painting depicting a rural scene, c. 206 x 122 x 52 cm, lined at a later date, shelves, evidence of restoration, a few small wood parts missing, slight signs of age and use.
