both figures standing in a dominant pose, Minerva wearing a helmet with her symbol (the owl) and large plumed ornament, breastplate with the head of a gorgon, blue shirt, creme coloured skirt with fine golden flowers, purple shawl with light purple lining, in her right she holds a spear with the golden shield decorated with a silver gorgon face, her left hand raised in greeting; Mars wearing a helmet with his symbol (the lion) and red plumed ornament, Roman armour, on the side his sword, in his right a spear, in his left he holds a golden shield with a silver lion’s head, earth base with gold-heightened rocailles, height 37 cm, 39.5 cm, minor restoration, spear and shield enclosed
Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords mark, second half of the 19th century, model no. 30x, 29, former no. 42, gilder no. 31, model by Michel Victor Acier 1779 (Ru)
