Wood (Alstonia), Turbo petolatus opercula, pigment, small indigenous repair, 29 cm high. An unusual mask with star motives with "eyes". It may represent a "ges" spirit, person's spirit double that lives in the bush and is usually invisible. (VJ)

Collected by Austrian Fregat Captain Rudolph Brosch in 1894, for the 1893-1895 Austrian Imperial Expedition.
