A Biedermeier Vanity Mirror
design and workmanship attributed to a design by Danhauser'schen Möbelmanufaktur c. 1815/25, walnut veneered softwood frame with one drawer, swivelling mirror mount with mirror panel in medallion form, on an Ottoman seated on a Turkish seat - the latter fully sculptured and carved, c. 68 x 38 x 25.5 cm, various heavy mount defects, small wooden parts missing, signs of age and use. This vanity mirror corresponds iconographically to the preparatory sketch for a figural lamp made by JOSEPH ULRICH DANHAUSER. The sketch is preserved in the collection of the MAK (Museum of Applied Arts) in Vienna under the inventory no. KI 8971-2411.
