VEB Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen. J. J. Kändler and F. E. Meyer created the musicians of the gallant chapel between 1750 and 1760. Through the delightful arrangement of the soloists gracefully handling their instruments, they give an authentic picture of the music-loving 18th century. Meissen’s artists were able to find their living models for the gallant figures of the chapel in the Dresden Opera, which was already world-famous at the time. The conductor was modelled on a portrait of the singer Domenico Annibale, painted by Anton Mengs in 1734.
