Hiroshige (1797-1858) - Works of Art - Part 1

Mino Yoro no taki (The Waterfall of Yoro), from the series: "Rokujuyo shu meisho zue" (Famous Places of about 60 Provinces), nishiki-e, signed Hiroshige hitsu, publisher Koshimuraya Heisuke, block engraver Yokogawa Takejiro (?), see Gordon Friese, no. 158, in Hori-Shi, Unna 2009, dated 1853: date and double nanushi censorship seal (Kaei 6, month 8, Kinugasa & Murata, see A. Marks, p. 481), according to Matthi Forrer (Hiroshige, Munich 1991, no. 59) the present sheet is a later print because the waterfall in the centre is white and the mountains at the sides are yellow; the wood grain is visible; stained, coin-size restoration to the lower left corner on the reverse, trimmed, attached along the upper corners on the reverse, 36.2 x 25.2 cm, (CT)
