Lot No. 252

Günter Brus *

(born in Ardning, Styria, in 1938)
"Körperanalyse", 1970, portfolio with 3 silkscreens (of which 1 on the cover) and 1 pencil drawing, 2 silkscreens and the pencil drawing signed Günter Brus and Brus respectively, sheet size c. 29.5 x 21 cm, portfolio format 31.7 x 24.7 cm, (4), (RAC)

An extremely interesting collection that illustrates the process of creation of the ‘Körperanalyse’ portfolio. Included is the design for the title sheet of the portfolio, executed as a pencil drawing, a silkscreen inscribed with 'Probedruck 1', which already represents a variant of the pencil design, and a second silkscreen, which represents the final state and is inscribed with 'Auflage 30 Stk. Nr. 21'. The three sheets in a standard collector’s folder, with the title sheet silkscreen in the first state. The edition of the portfolio was published by Edition Hundertmark/Berlin as the '3rd Edition Box' in 1970. It contained, besides the title page silkscreen and one pencil drawing, 10 original photographs of the 1969 ‘Körperanalyse’ action. In this collection the photographs are missing. Very rare.
