CHARLES-GUILLAUME DIEHL (1811-1885) was a German cabinetmaker and wood turner who came from a family of cabinet-makers. Like many other German cabinet-makers, DIEHL set up his own workshop in Paris in 1840, employing up to 600 people at times. Above all, he specialised in the production of furniture with so-called ‘Boulle’ marquetry. .
