a magnificent arrangement of flowers on a marble top before a niche, with red amaryllis, white lily, light purple mallow, red poppy, light orange lily, violet iris, light blue, royal blue and dark blue blooming branches, dark red mallow, tulip, snowball flower, light-coloured dahlia with purple points, violet blooming branch, yellow rose, blue bindweed, red-brown dahlia, brown-black primroses, tulip, orange rose, light yellow and white dahlia with purple points, violet rose with sprig of leaves and bud, red-brown dahlia, green sprig of leaves with poppy bud, rose stem with bud and 2 flowers, on the marble top a peach, pumpkin, green, yellow and blue grapes, cut open and whole oranges on poppy leaves, in the foreground a light blue flying butterfly, signed lower left Nigg Jos: 839, (dated 1839), porcelain plate 67 x 50 cm, gilt wooden frame with moulded blooming branches, acanthus leaf tendrils, with reserves featuring rocailles and 4 shells in the corners (Ru)

Josef Nigg, Vienna 1782-1863 Vienna, worked as a flower painter at the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory 1799-1848 (no. 107, later no. 4). In 1816, he received the supervision of flower painting and the supervision of the advanced art classes.
