Great-nephew of Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller, studied at the Vienna Academy with Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels. Until the age of 32 he was an official of the Ersten Donau -Dampfschiffahrts – Gesellschaft (First Danube Steamship Company), from 1890 port clerk in Orsova (Romania), later near Belgrade and in Regensburg. He was a member of the Austrian Artists' Association and the Dürer Association and was considered the most important watercolourist in Austria after Rudolf von Alt. He devoted himself primarily to landscape watercolours. The watercolours available here and in the next auctions belong to the most extensive and high-quality collection of works by the master from a private collection in Austria.
