A dry measure, 1 Viennese ‘Metzen’ from 1752 - The Dr. Eiselmayr scales & weights collection

The new or ‘True Viennese Metzen’ (Stockerau Metzen), which was introduced in Lower Austria in 1751 and in Upper Austria in 1752. 19 oak staves, bound in barrel-like shape, the bottom composed of five boards and held by wooden hoops (the two upper ones supplemented). Two brand marks or calibration marks, one on the base and one on the exterior and interior sides, date (1)752 and MT for Empress Maria Theresa. Total height 36 cm, upper diameter 52.5 cm.
