(born in Graz in 1959)
“Säbelzahnhyänenartigerhund”, 2011, bronze with dark patina, from an edition of 3 + 2 artist’s proofs, 48 x 66 x 79 cm

See in the catalogue:
Herbert Brandl. Hyänenpause, Museum Franz Gertsch, Burgdorf, Schweiz, mudo Verlag, 2017, p. 62-67

Provenance:
Galerie nächst St. Stephan, Rosemarie Schwarzwälder
Private Collection, Vienna

In 2016, Herbert Brandl remarked to curator Michiko Kono:
“Hyenas are utterly fascinating due to their unique social organisation, which is scarcely found elsewhere. Even wolves do not exhibit such an exceptionally strong bond. Hyenas exist within a completely matriarchal system, where males are subordinate, and a dominant female maintains order within the group. Moreover, hyenas are remarkably intelligent and work brilliantly as a team.”
