Dorotheum Auction Preview, 2nd and 3rd June 2016

Perhaps it is the season that led to the upcoming Dorotheum auction on 2nd June 2016 featuring such a bright and colourful selection of jewellery, including many famous names like Bulgari or Chantecler.

Artful jewellery from Capri
Italy’s dolce vita shines through in a splendid bracelet by Chantecler, the renowned jewellery maker from Capri, who counts more than a few Hollywood stars among his customers. Set with ca. 9 ct diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, this jewel will be made available at an estimated price of 16,000 to 24,000 Euro.

Bulgari contributes a „Serpenti“ lady’s jewellery watch in the shape of a serpent, dating to the year 1960/70 and expected to fetch 70,000 to 100,000 Euro.

His fascinating jewellery creations gained the Viennese goldsmith Ernst Paltscho (1858 - 1929) international recognition. Once such piece, a brooch in the form of a lifelike dragonfly, will be available at the auction (estimate €6,000 - €9,000).

Once again, the Dorotheum auction is able to offer an exceptional untreated gem, a 8.20 ct Burma sapphire set in a ring (€50,000 – €100,000). At the November 2015 auction, a ring set with a 14.57 ct. Burma sapphire brought in the record result of 222,600 Euro. A necklace also set with a total of 30 ct in untreated sapphires and 28 ct of brilliants, will be offered for 38,000 to 50,000 Euro.

Complex wrist-watches
Highlight among the 250 wrist- and pocket watches at the auction on 3rd June 2016 will be a Patek Philippe Grand Complication. This technical masterpiece is valued at 40,000 to 60,000 Euro. The auction also features fine watches by Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre, Rolex and many others.
