DOROTHEUM SELLS DRAWING BY SCHIELE FOR €2.3 MILLION

Highest price paid at auction in Austria in 2017 to date


Egon Schiele‘s portrait of a woman lying on her elbows, 'Liegende Frau', sold for a breath-taking €2,345,000 at Dorotheum’s modern art auction on 21 November 2017. 

A bidder in the packed auction hall contested bitterly with numerous telephone bidders in the race to win Schiele’s work. 

This sensational sum is the highest price paid at auction in Austria this year to date.
