Specialists agreed that this Dorotheum auction on Dec. 1st, 2018 included the best collection of Mercedes-Benz models after 1945.

This gained confirmation at the fast-paced, one-hour long auction in the brimming Austrian National Library Camineum: it was in this impressive setting that 13 top-class Mercedes-Benz of the legendary car-dealer dynasty Wiesenthal changed owners for a total of 5 million Euro.

As expected, the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “gullwing” was the most sought-after model, which finally went to an international telephone bidder for 1,492,600 Euro.

The 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster also minted a million for 1,123,000 Euro. The unique 1964 Mercedes-Benz Pullman - which is particularly unique since it served three Austrian presidents as the official Austrian state car - went to a bidder in the hall for 383,800 Euro.
