The Batliner collection

The Batliner collection is one of the most prominent collections of classical modernism paintings in Europe. As a starting point it comprises impressionistic and post-impressionistic artists like Degas, Cézanne, Toulouse-Lautrec and Gauguin. Another main focus of the collection is German Expressionism with the two artistic groups „Die Brücke“ (The bridge) and „Der Blaue Reiter“ (The blue rider) as well as the New Objectivity movement with works by Wacker, Sedlacek and Hofer. The focus on Austrian art is emphasized by the works of Kokoschka and Egger-Lienz. The variety of Russian Avantgarde is illustrated with Gontscharowa, Malewitsch und Chagall paintings.

Multiple masterpieces by Picasso from his early cubist paintings to 1940s works as well as outstanding, until now unexhibited prints and experimental pieces constitute the grand finale of the collection
