Kronos, son of Gaia (Erde) and Uranus (Himmel), leader of the Titans, ate up all his children to escape the prophecy that he would be overthrown by one of his own sons. One son, Zeus, was hidden by Gaia until he grew up and succeeded in freeing his siblings from the stomach of Kronos, whom he then overthrew.
