1960 Volkswagen Model 11 Convertible

From September 1949, Karmann in Osnabrück built the convertible for VW. The base has always been the "top model", always with thick padded soft top roof and always with a substantial price premium compared to the ordinary sedan. Early cars today are rare and represent, just like the sedan, prosperity and freedom during the time of the “Wirtschaftswunder” or economic miracle – as a convertible with that extra bit of air, pleasure and luxury.
This Volkswagen convertible was acquired by the consignor in Germany in 2014 from a long-established VW operation site with its own classic car division. The coral red convertible was restored very elaborately some time ago. Among other things, the car body had been removed from the chassis. To make the VW more practical for everyday use, a 34 horsepower engine was installed from the 61 series model. The convertible received a new interior as well as a new canvas roof. The export bumpers along with the luggage rack typical for this time period round off the overall image. The consignor had the VW typified in Austria, so that nothing stands in the way of immediately enjoying the great outdoors. Summer is waiting!
