An early “Svanen” group comprising a sofa, Model No. 3321, and two chairs, designed by Arne Jacobsen
for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, 1957/58, manufactured by Fritz Hansen, Denmark, cast aluminium, fibreglass reinforced Styrofoam seat shell, black leather covering, the chairs with swivelling mechanism and height-adjustable, settee: height 76 cm, width 143 cm, depth 77 cm, height of seat 39 cm, chairs: height 80 cm, width 73 cm, depth 67 cm, height of seat 39 cm. Original condition. This first version of the chairs is height-adjustable. According to Fritz Hansen’s Vienna office, this ensemble is the first that was sold in Austria during this early period.
Provenance: private ownership, Vienna, purchased c. 1960
