Frans Ykens

signed at lower right: Ijkens, oil on panel, 47.9 x 73 cm, framed
Frans Ykens started his career in 1615 as a pupil of his uncle, Osias Beert. In 1630-31 he became a master of the Guild of Saint Luke in Antwerp. After 1665, Ykens settled in Brussels. The main part of his oeuvre consists of floral wreaths around medallions enclosing religious scenes.
