Monografie und Werkverzeichnis, Vienna, Köln, Weimar 2011, WV-Nr. 193, p. 234. The book mentions an additonal study for the same theme ("Ein Märtyrer vor dem Marterpfahl, dem ein Engel erscheint" (A martyr at the post; an angel appearing to him, 1835, pencil on paper, 14,5 x 8,4 cm), which may be related to the present study (see: Grabner 2011, WV-Nr. 197, p. 234).
