Michael Lewin: Alfred Hrdlicka, Das Gesamtwerk Bildhauerei, published by Europa, Vienna 1987, page 338, No. 187/a: The Double Head is reminiscent of the meeting between Kaiser Leopold of Austria and the Polish King Sobieski in Schwechat near Vienna towards the end of the Turkish siege. The form of the portrait shows that the meeting was not necessarily a cordial one. Provenance: Private Collection, Vienna – a present from the artist
