Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 187 x 125 cm, about 1860, very early, archaic prayer rug with lamp, columns and inscription cartouche in the gable, preserved only as fragments with partly low pile, some losses as well as edge and end damage, brittle (a glass mount is recommended), mounted on linen and stretched on a wooden board, the inscription indicates the extensive collection of poetry known as Shahnameh ("The Book of Kings") by the Persian poet Ferdowsi.
