Yomut? Yurt Band,
West Turkestan, c. 1494 x 33 cm, late 19th century, woven band in “brocaded warp rep” technique with mesh-braided warp threads on both sides and original loops for hanging, the white parts of the pattern are made of cotton, this piece was once used to stabilise the wooden latticework of the yurt and has survived in its full original length; since it used to be wrapped around the wood structure, both long sides show several areas with edge damage.
