Empire style strong box,
An outstanding piece of recent execution, as a one-off piece, comprising a tapering metal form, partly painted black and gilt, richly decorated and painted with ornament, also with an anchor and lake scenes, with a central figure atop with a dolphin and scallop. The lock mechanism comprises a mechanical lock in combination with a magnetic lock. The interior is decorated with faux veneer painting, with interior lighting. Ca. 107 x 90 x 67 cm. The iconography of the nostalgic strong box revolves around the romance of the mariner, as can be seen from the individual ornamental elements as well as the oil paintings. This one-off piece brings together many crafts professions such as painter, sculptor, gilder etc into a unified concept.
