Iran, c. 353 x 110 cm, 19th century. A dated long carpet (1329) that was part of a composition probably consisting of three carpets, perhaps conceived as a triclinium, for important conversations between tribal leaders. Manufactured with the finest, plant-dyed wool and with silk wefts, this carpet features tribal symbols of the South Persian nomads. Very well-preserved. (VP)
