porcelain, China, 18th century, floral decoration on green ground, the back with underglaze blue double ring, European bronze doré mount, elements of which (incl. the handle) have been supplemented at a later date, cover with cat and floral finial, height 27.5 cm, flowers chipped. (Hr)
Acquired from Patrick Izarn (on the occasion of the Biennale de Paris in 2016), who refers to a very similar drawing from the collection of Prince Albert of Saxe-Teschen, preserved in the Metropolitan Museum in New York (61.680.1.9). Patrick Izarn suggests that this pot pourri vase was most likely part of the collection of Arthur Hill-Trevor, 3rd Viscount Dungannon.
