Ib Geertsen (1919 - 2009) is considered to be one of the most important Danish representatives of Concrete Art, an art movement that is based on mathematic and geometric principles.

His work anticipates trends in contemporary art, ranging from painting to sculpture and work in public spaces, and comes under the same umbrella as Serge Poliakoff or Alexander Calder.

Geertsen’s mobiles, which he himself called “aerial drawings”, are playful, using his characteristic colorful shapes. Balance, movement, light and air find a poetic expression in his creations.
