A unique Hommage Le Corbusier high-back chair, designed and manufactured by Johann Rumpf - Design

in 2016, mixed materials, four-legged construction, metal frame, the seat and backrest made of five-layer laminated wood slabs, dowel handrails, the seat and backrest partially covered with linoleum and textile fabric, can be disassembled, braced with two timber wedges on the rear, polychrome painted decoration, signed, height approx. 152 cm, width approx. 60 cm, depth approx. 65 cm, height of seat approx. 46 cm. Johann Rumpf dedicated this design to the versatile artist, architect, town planner, draughtsman, sculptor, and furniture designer Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, called Le Corbusier. Johann Rumpf was born in Vienna on 7 April 1950. From 1970 to 1974 worked for the Michaela Frey enamel jewellery manufactory; in 1973/74 was in charge of the artistic programme for children within the “Vienna Summer Holidays Game”, organising painting classes throughout Vienna; in 1976 obtained a license for professional artistic screen printing and joined the Austrian Professional Association of Visual Artists; foundation of the decorative arts company Johann Rumpf, with a focus on glass painting; between 1977 and 1992 various exhibitions in Austria and abroad (Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Frankfurt, New York, etc.); in 1992/93 built the Kunsthaus Rumpf; between 1994 and 2020 took part in numerous exhibitions and art auctions. Johann Rumpf lives and works in Vienna.
