porcelain, cover and body with gold folds, narrow and wide gilt edges, cover with crown on cushion, imperial orb with cross, on the facing side and reverse polychrome painted coat of arms, 4 cartouches on top with landscapes and gallant couple, segments with fine gold-painted leafy tendrils on white ground, cover and body with white sculptural bouquets of flowers and floral festoons with gold leafy tendrils, at bottom on the facing side and reverse reserves with purple painted sea views with sail boats and fishing boats with fishermen, rocks and houses, gold-heightened rocaille handles and 4 volute feet with shells, height 15.5 cm, length 19 cm, perfect condition
Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords mark, second half of the 19th century, (Ru)

The present small ‘Drüselkästchen’ (a container for small threads used in embroidery) is modelled on the crown tureen for Maria Josefa of Austria (Vienna 1699-1757 Dresden, since 1733 Electress of Saxony and Queen of Poland, wife of August III) with the Saxon-Polish-Lithuanian coat of arms, height 25 cm, length 26 cm, designed by Johann Joachim Kändler in 1738;
