The premiere of »Lucia di Lammermoor« will be remembered above all by Edita Gruberova, who sang the title role and in her musical performance set new standards for bel-canto singing. The costume of the last act, in which she sang the famous madness aria, is iconic not only for the production, but also refers to an exceptional situation of the character. The stains of blood are reminiscent of the horrific deed carried out in madness - the murder of her newly-wedded, unloved husband. In addition to Gruberova, the long line of world-famous Vienna Lucia singers worth mentioning must include Stefania Bonfadelli, Sona Ghazarian, Viktoria Loukianetz, Andrea Rost, Patricia Wise and Diana Damrau. And of course, Anna Netrebko, who celebrated her sensational return to the opera stage after her baby break with this very role in Vienna.
The costume consists of a dress made of cotton mousseline and processed in color.
