Hiroshige (1797-1858) - Antiquariato - Parte 1

Fuchu, Abekawa Miroku nichome, sheet no. 20 from the series "Gojusan tsugi meisho zue" (53 Famous Views of the Tokdaido, also called the Vertical Tokdaido), nishikie, signed Hiroshige hitsu, publisher Tsutaya Kichizo (Koeido), censor seal: aratame, Hare 7, dated 1855 (Ansei 2, months 7). The present sheet is a slightly later impression of the sheet from the British Museum, London, Museum No. 1915,0823,0.741. Both sheets show a small loss to the border line at the upper right beside the left corner, the same unprinted stripe at the left margin above in the grey area of the mountain, traces of the wood grain of the moon are also visible. In the present sheet the purple in the clouds is less saturated and the red signature cartouche is not completely filled in with colour on three sides; full margins, at the right outer margin outside the image area a 3mm wide addition which is clearly visible on the reverse, backed, above the moon and at the left ridge two restored tiny holes, minimally stained, 36.6 x 24.5 cm,(CT)
