"Rene Crevel: Regard", 1964, 6 etchings on wove paper (of which 3 printed in blue), each signed Andre Masson, hors-commerce example besides the edition of only 19 impressions, plate size 15.5 x 21.8/22 cm, sheet size 20 x 25.6 cm, published by Pierre André Benoit (PAB), the justification page signed by him and with dedication, the 6 etchings with a text by René Crevel on loose sheets and double-page sheets in original cardboard cover, (6), (RAC)
This is a rare item due to the small edition. The simple edition contains only one etching by Masson, printed in black. The first 6 examples contain 2 additional etchings printed in black as 'exemplaires de tete' and a suite of the 3 etchings in blue. The present hors-commerce example is also in this expanded set. The dedication, dated 1986, is probably addressed to the American gallery owner and collector Lawrence Saphire, who also published the catalogue raisonné of André Masson’s prints.
