The painter and sculptor Peter Robert Keil was born in Züllichau, Pomerania, on 6 August 1942. After an apprenticeship as a metalworker in 1956, he studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin from 1959 to 1961. He established contacts with other well-known artists, including Georg Baselitz and Markus Lüpertz. In the early 1960s, he lived and worked in various cities such as Paris, London, Berlin, and in the USA as well as on Mallorca. During his stay in Spain, he also met Joan Miro several times in his studio. All these experiences have had an impact on his extensive oeuvre and bear witness to its multifaceted quality. He has been active, and successful, in the most diverse areas of the fine arts. Peter Robert Keil lives and works in the USA.
