A Viennese apothecary weight box, 1773
fire-gilt brass, calibrated with the Austrian double eagle with barred shield and dated (1)773, 10 button weights of 1 lb, 1/2 lb, III, II, I and 1/2 ounce, 2 , 1 and 1/2 drachma, 1/16 lot, 1, 1 1/2 and 2 scruples (stamped Z), grains I-X, brass tweezers. Original box covered with gold embossed leather, double eagle on the bombé lid, two brass hooks, lined with red dyed deerskin and golden borders. Remains of sealing. Size c. 21 x 11.8 x 6.8 cm.
