Estate auction of the artist, Wawra, 3rd April 1916, lot 15 ("Gasthaus Anderle in Gresten");
Private collection Vienna.
The mother of Franz Alt came from Gresten, which is a charming place in the Scheibbs district. Franz Alt spent many summer holidays in the village of Gresten-Ybbsbach whise Stiebar Castle belonged to the Knorr-Colloredo family and where Franz Alt invited befriended artists such as Albert Decker, Josef Heicke and Josef Kriehuber.
